This book highlights the shortcomings in the comprehension of fatwa (Islamic legal opinion) in relation to contemporary realities. It argues that many fatwas disseminated through “fatwa platforms” fail to consider the realities of nation-states and human societies, leading to fragmentation and distortion within the fatwa system and ultimately harming the integrity of Islam.
The author calls for the revival of the methodology of “preferred opinions in fatwa” and “civilizational ijtihad”, advocating for its adoption by authoritative fatwa institutions. He emphasizes the need for contemporary scholars to collaborate with experts across various fields to develop a civilizational ijtihad that offers necessary alternatives and provides sustainable, well-suited solutions.
