Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities Ramps Up Implementation of “Family Cohesion Journey” Initiative

Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities is continuing its Family Cohesion Journey, an initiative that has brought together 149 families and more than 600 participants since its launch. Organized under the theme "A Family Journey Toward Learning, Culture, Volunteering, and Dialogue," the program strengthens family bonds and promotes cooperation, volunteerism, and generosity through activities and challenges that family members take on together.

The university organized the initiative in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, the Family Care Authority, ADNEC Group, the Municipal Presence Centers, and the Nabdh Community Hubs of the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development. The program supports the goals of the Year of the Family 2026, which seeks to promote family stability and strengthen social cohesion.

Participating families have launched 33 community initiatives of their own. These efforts have carried the program's influence beyond the home, positioning families as active partners in building solidarity and turning shared values into a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Participation grew further when 27 new families joined after visiting the initiative's information pavilion at ADNEC. They now take part in activities held at seven centers and venues that combine learning, culture, and dialogue, strengthening relationships within the family and expanding its role in serving the community.

To follow the families' progress and recognize their contributions, the University hosts monthly gatherings where participants review their documented accomplishments. Since the initiative began, the University has honored 12 outstanding families for achievements recorded in their Year of the Family Passport. The recognition encourages families to continue their progress ahead of the final evaluation scheduled for December and reflects the University's commitment to supporting family-led initiatives and reinforcing the values of cohesion and mutual support.

His Excellency Ahmed Al Humairi, Vice Chancellor for Development and Investment at the university, said the initiative's deeper value lies in what stays with family members after the activities end: shared experiences that strengthen their sense of being partners in shaping the life of their family.

He added that this influence carries through every stage of life, since a person who finds understanding and belief at home enters the world with greater confidence and a stronger capacity to take on responsibility.

He also noted that the honored families inspire others by showing that cohesion is built in the details of daily life, through time that is given, opinions that are respected, responsibilities that are shared, and ambitions that are supported. A stable society, he said, begins with a family that gives its members a sense of belonging and care.

The initiative is built on five tracks: culture, education, volunteer work, family dialogue, and sports. Participation is documented through the Year of the Family Passport, which allows families to track their achievements and encourages members to learn, exchange experiences, discover their abilities, and serve the community, while deepening their involvement in cultural, educational, community, and sports activities.

Upcoming activities and challenges will give families new opportunities to build on their progress and take on new experiences that bring them closer together and encourage friendly competition. The aim is for the initiative's impact to continue through deeper conversations between generations and closer cooperation in everyday life.
