The Hamdan Bin Zayed Program for Sustainable Humanitarian Action (Post Graduate Diploma) is a specialized training framework aimed at preparing qualified professionals for humanitarian fieldwork. It equips participants with a comprehensive set of leadership and management knowledge and skills, linked to the ethics and contemporary mechanisms of humanitarian intervention. The program is based on a multidisciplinary integrative vision that combines humanitarian, social, economic, and environmental dimensions, enhancing participants' ability to understand the complex contexts of crises and disasters, and to deal with them efficiently and effectively, based on international standards and best practices in the humanitarian sector. The program highlights the UAE's cultural specificity in humanitarian work, focusing on concepts of volunteerism and sustainability as authentic values that form a key pillar of national identity, contributing to supporting the state's efforts to strengthen its position as a leading global center in humanitarian giving and sustainable development. Program Code: DIHA Degree Awarded: Post Graduate Diploma Credit Hours: 24 credit hours Duration: 2 semesters (full-time) – 4 semesters (part-time) Language of Instruction: Arabic and English Delivery Mode: In-person with remote not exceeding 25% Campus: Abu Dhabi / Ajman / Al Dhafra Vision: Leadership in qualifying humanitarian professionals capable of making an impact, and enhancing effective response to humanitarian challenges globally. Mission: Preparing specialists who combine theoretical knowledge, practical application, international partnerships, and community service. Program Educational Objectives: 1. Build a comprehensive understanding of humanitarian action principles and its legal, social, and organizational dimensions. 2. Enable participants to analyze contemporary humanitarian contexts and respond effectively to disasters and crises. 3. Develop leadership and technical skills needed to manage humanitarian projects efficiently and sustainably. 4. Enhance awareness of the roles of humanitarian action in supporting health, education, and community peace-building. 5. Establish a culture of innovation, scientific research, and community partnership in serving communities and enhancing their resilience. Admission Requirements: - An attested bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited university recognized by the Ministry of Education in the UAE. - A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent. - A minimum score of 4.5 in IELTS (Academic) or equivalent for all graduate programs taught in Arabic. - Pass the written exam and personal interview. MBZUH graduates are exempt from the written exam. Graduation Requirements: 1. Complete all program courses. 2. Complete the required duration without exceeding the maximum timeframe. 3. Attend three training workshops organized by the university during the study period. 4. Pass the competency exam with a minimum score of 85% in all theoretical courses. 5. The diploma is awarded by decision of the University Director based on recommendation from the Dean of Graduate Studies and the Vice Director for Academic Affairs.

It also broadens and deepens their scientific and cognitive horizons in their field of specialization, enabling them to master scientific research methods and their goals; building knowledge derived from original sources and open to contemporary references from various languages and civilizations; meeting the needs of the UAE, Gulf states, Arab and Islamic countries by providing distinguished competencies with the necessary qualifications for university and educational fields, relevant government ministries, and various social institutions.

Program graduates will acquire skills in cultural communication, scientific social research, and understanding interconnected human commonalities needed by companies, governmental and semi-governmental organizations in an increasingly multicultural work environment. Furthermore, this program highlights the degree of religious diversity, coexistence and tolerance in the UAE with more than 200 nationalities of various religions and sects, all coexisting in the country, in addition to numerous places of worship for different world religions, all supporting government initiatives to promote religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence in the UAE.

Department Head: Prof. Haitham Zinham About the Program: This program focuses on Emirati folk literature, highlighting its sources, introducing its types and prominent figures, and tracing its artistic, thematic and functional characteristics and transformations, in comparison with regional neighboring literature of the same type and its global counterpart, through bringing Emirati folk literary texts into systematic analysis and researching their various historical and cultural contexts. The program also focuses on the generic survey of various aspects of folk literature in the country, whether those with global extension such as folk tales, myths, proverbs, songs and various poetic forms, or those representing Emirati uniqueness in poetry and prose. The program, while tracing sensitivities, experiences and transformations considering fields, generations and social classes, also fundamentally establishes the inherited Emirati values and reinforces their importance in consolidating social cohesion across various societal groups. The program is built on developments in global systematic observation of folk literary phenomena and texts, and new technical and digital developments in documentation and study, and employing research results in institutional projects.
