The Center of Excellence in Arabic Language

at Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities announces

The Second International Scientific Conference

Arabic Language
and Applied Linguistics

Opportunities and Aspirations

September 27–28, 2023

Introduction

Language has received significant attention for many centuries. With the varied development across all sciences, the interest has evolved from merely viewing language as a means of communication to be preserved, to encompassing related areas such as body language, sign language, cognition, speaker and listener psychology, society, and language acquisition methods — whether as a first language or as a foreign/second language — in what became known as Applied Linguistics.

Applied Linguistics has become a rigorous scientific field that contributes to enhancing scientific and cognitive linguistic outcomes through its real connection to the actual world, focusing on levels of language use and its connection to other fields such as psychology, sociology, and education. These represent evolved paths where different linguistic ideas and concepts are applied from social, cultural, ideological, and psychological angles to invest them in various functional applications.

This conference attests to Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities' commitment to scientific research and the advancement of Arabic in the field of Applied Linguistics, contributing to enhancing its global presence and coordinating research efforts to serve it optimally.
